July 18th - Welcome to Silly Sunday! This is only our second Silly Sunday in the last three years and we are long overdue for a Sunday where we could revel in our silliness. In the last 16 months the laughter and silliness has been too far and in between.
And you all know what they say – Laughter is the best medicine! That phrase comes from the Bible - Proverbs 17:22 - "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Over the years it became – Laughter is the best medicine.
In 1939 Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore wrote: There are various methods of erasing fear from the mind and preventing its congestions in the body. One of the most direct and effective shatterers of fear is laughter. Laugh your fears away!
Now there’s a bumper sticker – Laugh your fears away!
In that same article titled the Healing Power of Joy, Mr. Fillmore states that We all should practice delightful, happy joyous states of mind. It is such thoughts that open the way for the ever present God mind to pour out its splendid resources into our mind and through us into all our affairs. The Healing Power of Joy – is there a healing power in joy, in laughter?
